想歸化入籍成為美國公民，也就是可申請美國護照，必需在美國持續居住一段時間，一般是五年，但若取得綠卡的方式是結婚，則減為三年 (若無離婚)，且這在期間裡有至少一半的時間實際居住在美國，並且在這期間裡也具備良好的道德規範。
所謂的持續居住在美國一段時間指的是，若曾離開美國出國旅遊或探親等等，並沒有超出規定的時間，那麼雖然曾經離境美國，也符合持續居住美國的規定。

你好,我想幫人問一下,他剛通過公民考試,考試是通過了,但移民官不知是不是故意刁難,竟然認為他居住在美國的時間不夠久,要他提出證明,如機票,可是不是有符合資格-在美國5年超過一半時間即可參加考試嗎?為何又懷疑呢?不是自打嘴巴嗎?而且我不相信他們電腦裡查不到,想請問碰到這種情形該如何處理?申請出入境證明可以嗎?聽說要申請兩週才下來,台灣可是當天就可拿到了,謝謝!!
回覆刪除[版主回覆01/01/2010 01:11:57]You mentioned one of the requirements for naturalization but there are additional requirements. The immigration officer may be verifying that your friend was in the US and resided in the state for at least 3 months before applying for naturalization.
